What Breaks Between $4M and $10M

Founder bottleneck

Every exception, every reconciliation and every 'is this in stock?' still lands on the founder or one overloaded ops lead.

Fragile app chains

Five single-purpose apps and a few Zapier flows that nobody fully understands, until one silently stops.

No single source of truth

Revenue in Shopify, ad spend in Meta, fees in Stripe, accounting in Xero, stock in a 3PL portal.

Peak-season fear

Every drop, sale and BFCM is a roll of the dice on whether stock, orders and tickets will hold up.

What Else Could You Do?

The usual ways to get ops engineering capacity, and what they cost.

Option Typical cost The catch
In-house ops / e-commerce operations hire ~$125k/yr salary + benefits Months to hire and ramp, and still needs engineering support.
Shopify Plus agency retainer $10k–$15k/month Built for storefront work; ops automation is a side line, and the code often lives in their accounts.
Fractional COO $12k–$15k/month Strategy and management. Doesn't build the integrations.
Shop-Jets Ops Partner From $6k/month + build Capped at 6 brands. You own the code and can leave at any time.

Ranges are directional market figures drawn from published agency, salary and fractional-executive guides, not quotes. Your numbers will vary.

Teardown → Build → Run → Improve

Every Ops Partner engagement starts with a paid Ops Teardown and an architecture blueprint, so the scope and the payback target are agreed before you commit.

Step 1

Ops Teardown & Blueprint

A paid diagnostic of your stack, ranked by hours and dollars, and an architecture blueprint for how Shopify, ERP, 3PL and finance should connect.

Step 2

Build (6–10 weeks)

A fixed-price back-office automation and integration program: inventory and PO flows, finance reconciliation and reporting, support triage, app-stack consolidation.

Step 3

Run (monthly)

Monitoring with automated alerting, weekly health reports, a pool of hours for fixes and new automations, and a monthly roadmap call.

Step 4

Quarterly Ops Review

A quarterly review of results against your payback target, and the next set of workstreams: B2B portal, marketplace sync, AI agents.

What "Run" Means, Honestly

No inflated claims. Here is exactly what you get each month after the build.

Monitoring & Alerting

Automated alerting, dead-letter queues for failed payloads and a weekly health report, so problems are caught and fixed before your customers notice them.

A Response SLA

4 business hours for critical issues and next business day for everything else. Business-hours cover, with automated alerting in between.

A Pool of Hours

Around 25 hours a month for fixes and new automations, planned on a monthly roadmap call.

Quarterly Ops Reviews

Results against your payback target, what to build next, and what to retire.

Documentation & Code Ownership

Everything is documented and lives in your accounts, with Git version control and sandbox staging before deployment.

An Exit Handover Plan

If we part ways, we hand over documentation, credentials and a walkthrough so your next developer isn't starting from scratch.

The Partnership Commitment

✓

Custom-built to your business logic, not forced into off-the-shelf apps

✓

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about how we work and how we can help your Shopify store grow.

You do. Everything is built in your own accounts, with documentation and Git version control. There's no proprietary lock-in, and an exit handover plan is part of the engagement.
Only the systems involved: for example Shopify, your 3PL, ERP and helpdesk. We use scoped API credentials stored in your accounts where possible, and we stage changes in a sandbox before they go live. We confirm the exact access list in the Teardown.
Critical issues get a response within 4 business hours and others by the next business day. We don't offer 24/7 coverage. Monitoring and alerting catch problems automatically, and the team responds during business hours.
That's the reason for documentation, code ownership and the exit handover plan. Any competent developer can pick up what we've built, and we cap client numbers so the work stays manageable.
The Build is fixed-price, paid in stages. The Run phase has a 6-month minimum, then continues month-to-month.
Single-purpose apps add subscription creep and slow your storefront, and they force your business logic to fit a generic template. Custom workflows fit your ERP, 3PL and fulfillment rules exactly, and you own them.
