Compression
Posted on Jun 22, 2023A product on your ecommerce website has multiple images showing different angles. You have uploaded very high quality images for your product on your website which is making your page loading very slow. Your customer wants to see all the images before deciding to buy and had to wait a long time for all the images to load. The customer leaves the website without buying due to the long wait. Then, you change all the images to very low quality image resolutions for the website to load faster. Again, you find that you are losing customers. It is because there are unclear distorted images which are not appealing. These situations can bring your brand down and make you lose customers. Creating high-quality images is crucial, so users can zoom in and clearly view details.
Image compression is an optimization that can achieve a balance between quality and size. Compression is a method of reducing the size of an image while maintaining the same quality. File compression is not only a beneficial technique for reducing the load times of your product pages, but also for consuming less bandwidth (data served to the customer) and digital storage space on your hosting server. Our compression tool can reduce the image file sizes while maintaining its quality and resolution.
This section shows you how to use the Compression tool. Select the image using the product search filters. For more information, refer Product search.
- Select the Compression tool.
- Set the compression parameters.
- Codecs are compression technologies and have two components, an encoder to compress the files, and a decoder to decompress. In our app, we offer JPEG and WEBP. The most common example is JPEG, an image compression format used extensively on the web and in digital photography. WEBP is an image format developed exclusively for the web and is very versatile.
- The perfect quality setting for your images depends on the amount of detail, color, and contrast in your images, as well as the user-experience you want to attain. The two frequently used setting is 80% or 90%. Here we set 80%.
- After you've set the parameters, you can proceed to process your image to view the result..
